Wallets

Browser extensions, mobile, hardware, and embedded wallets.

Phantom is the default. For dApps, use Wallet Adapter or an embedded wallet provider.

For most Solana users, Phantom is the default starting point — the most widely installed wallet, available as a browser extension and mobile app, with built-in swap and NFT support. Solflare is the main alternative, with native staking UI and strong hardware wallet integration. Backpack takes a different approach, embedding an xNFT app platform inside the wallet itself.

For maximum security, Ledger provides hardware-level key isolation. It's the right choice for storing significant amounts of SOL or tokens long-term.

For developers building apps, the wallet landscape splits into two categories. Wallet Adapter connects your dApp to Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, and other wallets through a unified TypeScript interface. Privy and Dynamic go further — they provide embedded wallet infrastructure that lets users sign in with email or social accounts, abstracting away wallet UX entirely for mainstream audiences.
